Crafting Authentic Voice
After this reading, I started thinking about just how power voice is. I even started wondering about my own voice and how it is perceived. I have never really thought about my own writing. This reading has triggered that thought process. How can I ask students to do this when I haven't done it for myself?

I agree so much with you about never really giving thought to "crafting the voice." I guess I have always had a misconception that writing is supposed to "sound a certain way" although I know prefer certain authors over others. Maybe I didn't realize that "voice" was one of the determining factors for my preferences. I too plan to work on crafting my voice so that I can help my students understand that all of our work should not sound the same. Thanks for bringing this to our attention again.
I feel the same way. Forever and always we have written in the same way and not allowed our voice to shine through. This is one of the goals as educators is to instill a sense of self worth and safety that allows our student's voices to be heard.
