Blogging for Thursday 6/28/07

Today, in honor of our creative selves and in honor of April's teacher demonstration, write and post a haiku.

I have to say that this is a very weak area for me. However, after today's lesson I feel much better about it and feel that I will be able to go into my classroom and use this lesson with them. I was like Carley and really could picture them as people were describing how they saw the Haiku (s). Great Job April:)))))

I enjoyed creating my Haiku this morning and I am going to attempt to do another one. Here goes:

The smell of the rain
as clouds are barreling in
on the sacred land.

Poetry is one of my favorite things, I have loved poetry since I was a second grader. I really enjoyed April's lesson. Haiku's are beautiful because they are about nature. I love nature.
Here is my Haiku. Great job April!

After the rain fell
freshness,gentle breezes flows
refreshing....flowers.

I have much to say:
silently I write my thoughts
knowing they won't hear

Since I was upstairs writing, I missed the directions for bringing scissors on Monday. Classmates told me we needed to have a typed copy for Monday and a pair of scissors.Since I have worked diligently on this project and have never heard of the "scissor technique" I am expressing myself with a Haiku.

Bring scissors to class
Cut my beloved essay
What are they thinking?

Hopefully, the technique won't be as painful as it sounds at this point. Thanks April for a time today to reflect on the beauty of Haiku. Sorry mine is not too beautiful guys, but, it's expressive.

I am enjoying everyone's Haiku. I love poetry, but I do better when I'm alone in my private space. This is not as easy for me as it is for others. I will have to work on it. This must be a rainy day feeling because mine is also about rain.

Quiet drops of rain
Tap upon the window sill;
Awakens my senses
