First of all, I was just completely blown away by the powerful stories I heard today. The depth of emotion (both sadness and humor) made those narratives so deeply personal. I was also amazed how so many of our stories, even though separate by author and style, shared some very common themes: love of reading, the role of writing in our lives, the support (or lack) of significant people in our lives, and our calls to the teaching profession.
Some of us got the calling early and some later, but I think we can agree that our students are the better for it. Can't wait to see what tomorrow holds in store.

I was very impressed with the power of the stories today. They were written with a lot of emotion.
The degree of writing excellance was incredible. Each of us are writers indeed.
I too was very impressed with all of the essays today. I know that I was one of the biggest skeptics of the fun and enjoyable "SCISSOR" activity. But, I must say thanks to Sherrie for making us suffer through this. It really did change the way I think about writing.
I had only heard a few of the essays during the beginning stages of the writing process. It was great today to hear the final products. As difficult as it was for some of us to revise and edit our work, it really did makes us all a group of talented writers.
Thanks to everyone for sharing your stories. I know it was very difficult for some of us to bring up old memories, put them down on paper, and then share. But, I think through the process we learned that we are a group of caring people that each of us felt we could trust. This entire experience was amazing and I really enjoyed hearing the "final products" of many and am looking forward to hearing the rest tomorrow.
The sharing today was amazing. It is the product of the relationship we have built over these past four weeks. How precious our friendship is! I wish we could all teach together somewhere. (Want to start a Charter School????) I feel genuinely blessed. Thanks! tj
